Shruti Haasan began her career as a singer before transitioning to modeling. She first appeared in the September 2007 issue of Frappe! magazine, and she has since appeared in Verve. with 2000, Haasan made her film debut with Hey Ram, a Tamil and Hindi bilingual film directed by her father. She also appeared briefly as Vallabhai Patel’s daughter in the Mahatma Gandhi movie. After turning down major film offers, including the lead part in Venkat Prabhu’s Saroja, rumors surfaced in late 2007 that Haasan was poised to make her complete debut as a heroine in 2008 in a film alongside Madhavan directed by Nishikanth Kamath.
